dirty dancing
After the kids were done playing in the mud, I had them stand in front of a black back drop for a few photos. Through this together real quick.

A Tangled Mess
I suggest everyone watch this film as a parable about themselves and see what you get. I watched Tangled today with my kids and must say this movie spoke to me on multiple levels and frankly, I'm a mess (in a good way). I'm sure a big part of my sensitivity right now is due to the way content is filtered through my own life drama... and there has been enough of it as of late to make me hyper sensitive I guess. Read more below...
I see stories like this classic tale as living parables that can reach into our humanity in ways that direct knowledge simply can't. I thought several times of the intuitive power that Rapunzel's story has to draw out deep things within us. Here I was with my three kids holding back the tears multiple times on scenes where everyone else seemed to take it in stride. I'm reminded again of the reason I was first drawn to want to make movies as a 15 year old. More on that some other time.

MONSTERS INSPIRE... indie filmmakers
So tonight I will finally watch it. MONSTERS, an inspiration for us indie film makers... the movie Monsters was made on a very small budget with one camera, 2 paid actors, a total crew of 4 people, and the script was totally ad libbed through out the whole thing. The movie was edited on a laptop in hotel rooms while the movie was being shot. Even if the movie sucked I was happy to know it made it to the big screen and I resonated with the director. But after seeing Robert Ebert's 3 1/2 stars out of 4 stars review of the film , I've been really excited to see it. The movie just came out on Netflix instant play which means... Well, I'm about to pop the popcorn. It's showtime.
